  • Auction Hawk – Web-based service with affordable pricing. The site offers various tools in its main service, including image hosting, bulk listing creation, end-of-auction checkout with automated winning-bidder email, bulk feedback posting, and profit-and-loss reporting.
  • Auction Lizard – Easy-to-use listing-creation software program. It creates great-looking HTML-based listings using forms and templates. Auction Lizard is shareware, with a $29 registration fee.
  • Auction Wizard 2000 – auction management software program that includes an image editor, a listing creator, a report generator, an FTP manager, and an auction database. Auction Wizard 2000 costs $75 for the first year (and $50 for each subsequent year) with no monthly subscription fees.
  • Auction Helper – offers various auction management tools, including image hosting, customer tracking and invoicing, and inventory management. The site also offers several auction reporting tools.
  • Auction Sage – software program that lets you post and manage your eBay auction transactions. It also includes email and bulk feedback functions. Cost is $29.95 for 3 months, $49.95 for 6 months, or $79.95 for a year.
  • Auction Tamer – all-in-one auction management software program for both sellers and bidders. For sellers, it lets you create auction listings, schedule delayed auction listings, manage your live auctions, send post-auction emails, and print shipping labels. Cost is $12.95 per month or $99.95 for a year.
  • Auctiva – offers a variety of different services, including bulk listing, image hosting, auction tracking and management, and a showcase photo gallery. Several pricing plans are available, starting from $9.95/month (50 listings) all the way up to $109.95/month (unlimited listings).
  • ChannelAdvisor – The site offers a fairly affordable suite of auction management toolsas well as services for bigger online merchants. The service you want to look at is ChannelAdvisor Pro, which is actually Hammer Tap Manager in disguise. This service is a surprisingly easy-to-use collection of auction management tools, quite reasonably priced at a flat fee of just $29.95 per month. If you’re doing more than 50 auctions a month, it’s definitely worth consideringeven more so if you’re a heavier lister.
  • eBay Seller’s Assistant – offering HTML-based listing creation (using forms and templates), auction tracking, and basic post-auction management (including automatic email notification and feedback generation). The software is available on a per-month subscription; you’ll pay $9.99 each month, no matter how many listings you create.
  • eBay Selling Manager – lets you manage your pending, in-process, and closed auctions right from within My eBay. It’s a fairly complete service, equal to that offered by many third-party providers. It includes predefined email templates and automatic feedback forms, automatically tracks buyer checkout and payment, and lets you print shipping labels, invoices, and reports. At $4.99 per month, it’s a pretty good dealdefinitely worth checking out if you have a lot of auctions to manage.
  • eBay Selling Manager Pro – adds features of value to power sellers, including bulk listing and relisting, bulk email, inventory management, report generation, and the capability to create and print shipping labels. The subscription fee is $15.99 per month.
  • eBay Turbo Lister – eBay’s official software program for the bulk uploading of multiple auctions. Although Turbo Lister doesn’t offer any auction tracking features, it excels at bulk uploadingand it’s free! Many sellers use Turbo Lister to create their listings and Selling Manager to manage their auctions; it’s a good combination.
  • HammerTap – Offers various auction management software and services, all priced separately.
  • inkFrog – Heavy-duty web-based auction management services. inkFrog offers auction listing, tracking, and management, along with image hosting and listing creation and design. Various plans are offered, starting at $7.95 per month.
  • ManageAuctions – offers web-based listing creation, auction tracking, email notification, shipping label printing, feedback generation, and other post-auction management. Pricing is on an a la carte basis; listings cost $0.05 each and post-sale management is $0.05 per auction. There’s a minimum monthly charge of $4.95, and a maximum of $24.95; image hosting is extra.
  • Marketworks – Formerly known as Auctionworks, is one of the oldest and most established third-party auction management services. The site offers various professional auction tools, including inventory management, a bulk listing creator, traffic counters, image hosting, automatic end-of-auction emails, a checkout system, reciprocal feedback posting, web-based storefronts, and customizable reports.
  • Shooting Star – software program designed to manage the end-of-auction process. It uses what it calls a “workflow system” to move you through various post-auction operations, including email notification. Price is a one-time $49.95.
  • SpareDollar – Low-priced auction service, ideal for small or occasional sellers. It’s extremely affordable, with everything offered for a flat $4.95 per month price.
  • Vendio – Formerly known as Auctionwatch, is one of the top two auction management services. Vendio claims 125,000 sellers use its services, which makes it a very popular site. Vendio Sales Manager is a powerful set of listing creation and auction management tools. You can use Sales Manager not only to create new item listings, but also to manage all of your current and post-auction activity. Sales Manager will automatically generate end-of-auction emails, print invoices and packing slips, and upload customer feedback to eBay.

Snipping and Bidding Tools

  • Auction Sentry – software program for auction tracking, bidding, and sniping. You can use Auction Sentry just to watch auctions you’re interested in, to alert you when someone else makes a bid on an item, to place instant bids, or to make scheduled snipes. The Auction Sentry program costs $14.95.
  • Auction Sniper – web-based sniping service with more than 70,000 registered users. You’re charged 1% of the final value fee, with a minimum charge of $0.25 and a maximum of $5.
  • Auction Stealer – web-based service that lets you track an unlimited number of auctions and perform unattended auction sniping. The site claims to have sniped more than 7 million auctions to date, and to have more than 300,000 active registered users. The site offers both a free service and a more fully featured priority service that costs $11.99 per month, $29.99 for 3 months, or $49.99 for 6 months.
  • Auction Tamer – tool for both bidders and sellers. For bidders, it lets you search and track auctions across multiple auction sites, save and repeat your most popular item searches, automatically snipe auctions, and leave feedback on items you’ve won. You pay $2.95 per month (or $24.95 a year) for AuctionTamer’s Buyer Access Plan; seller features are extra.
  • BidNapper – web-based subscription sniping service that costs $9.95 for 1 month, $16.95 for 3 months, $26.95 for 6 months, or $45.95 for 12 months. If you’re an infrequent bidder, consider the “$19.95 for 10 winning snipes” package.
  • BidRobot – web-based sniping service with more than 70,000 users. Pricing is $19.95 for 6 months or $34.95 for 12 months.
  • BidSlammer – web-based sniping service. Cost is $0.10 per losing bid or 1% of the winning bid price if you winwith a minimum charge of $0.25 and a maximum charge of $5.00.
  • Cricket Power Sniper – simple, easy-to-use eBay sniping program. It costs $19.99.
  • eSnipe – web-based sniping tool that claims more than 100,000 users. The site charges $0.25 or 1% of the final value fee (up to a $10 maximum) for each successful snipe.
  • HammerSnipe – web-based sniping service that comes with its own customized browser, called HammerSnipe PowerTool. The PowerTool software is free, as is the basic ad-supported service.
  • Vrane – web-based service that lets you place one snipe at a time. To place more than one snipe, you can sign up for their Gold service, which operates on a somewhat unusual credit basis. You can purchase 450 credits for $7.99, and use them as necessary.
